ASCE North Central Student Conference
The 2019 ASCE North Central Student Conference
brings together students from 11 universities from
Michigan and Ohio to participate in a multitude of events, particularly the Concrete Canoe competition. The Concrete Canoe competition provides students with hands-on experience with concrete mix design and project management. As 1 of the 19 regional American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Student Conferences held every spring nationwide, the event also increases awareness of Civil Engineering education and concrete technology among sponsors, industry leaders, and the general public.
AISC Steel Bridge Competition
Beginning with the 2019 competition year, the American Institute of Steel Construction is the sole sponsor of all 18 regional Student Steel Bridge Competitions (SSBC) nationwide. Originating as a small competition between three schools in Michigan in the 1980s, the SSBC allows students to acquire useful knowledge in steel structural design and construction, as well as fosters relationships
between students and industry professionals. Students
from 11 universities from Michigan, Indiana and Ohio will compete based on the rules established by AISC.
